LONDON
From a young age, I have wanted to impact and change the world (I still do!). In the early years, I thought I'd do it through politics. I studied for my degree in 'Politics with Economics' (BA Honours) at Goldsmith's College, University of London. I quickly realised I didn't have the disposition of a politician but the urge to make a difference for the betterment of all was still there.
Professionally, I found my sense of purpose when I worked as a Consultant for the UK government on issues of social change. I had special interests in race relations, substance misuse, gender equality, and community affairs. My research projects had an emphasis on action at the grass-roots level and were designed to create highly focused development programs. Producing researched reports, recommendations, and evaluations I was directly impacting the social policy framework.
I continued to make a difference in my small way and accepted to join the prestigious Board of Directors at Medway Human Rights and Equality Council.
It was during my contact with local groups and grassroots-level research that I founded Tamana Productions, an all-women drama group from diverse backgrounds, giving a voice to women who may otherwise not be heard. The aim was to explore social issues through drama.
As a professional in my field, I was often invited to radio talk shows to contribute my views and opinions. I was a regular social commentator.
